Fat-Burning Exercises
By: Chris Chenoweth

If you have more fat than you should have, how can you burn it? Burning fat is all about using up more calories than your body takes in. Otherwise, those extra calories will be stored away as body fat, and the more you have the more difficult it is to get rid of it.

Learn how to make the most of your body’s ability to burn fat quickly and naturally by making some minor changes to your diet and lifestyle. Daily aerobic exercise, together with a healthy diet, is the best way to lose that fat and give you the results you are looking for. Once you are committed and motivated enough to maintain these changes, your body will stay fit and healthy for the rest of your life.

First, you must eat breakfast! Eating a healthy, protein-packed breakfast revs up your metabolism and gives your body the energy it needs to get through the morning. However, eating a donut and drinking a cup of coffee is NOT considered a healthy breakfast. The healthiest breakfast, one that provides the fuel your body needs to start the day, should always include lots of protein (eggs, meat, cheese, beans, etc.) and complex carbohydrates (whole grain cereal, bread, oatmeal, etc.).

Drink lots of water (no less than 8 glasses a day) and eat four or five small nutritious meals throughout the rest of the day, no more than four hours apart. This eating plan forces your metabolism to work at maximum efficiency to burn fat. You will not feel hungry or deprived between meals because you are eating more often and you will be less tempted to cheat.

Move! To burn calories, any kind of movement, whether it’s walking, climbing stairs, dancing, or mowing the lawn, will help enhance your body’s ability to burn fat and increase your metabolism. Increasing your metabolism will, in turn, help you lose weight faster.

Try to incorporate movement into your everyday routine at work and at home. If you have stairs where you work, use them instead of the elevator. If you sit at a desk all day, get up and move around at least once every hour, even if you only walk around your work space for a couple of minutes.

Power walking, jogging, running, elliptical training, bicycling and swimming are considered to be the most simple but most effective aerobic exercises that will put your body in fat-burning mode. These types of exercises that require continuous, smooth movements force your body to burn a higher percentage of calories from fat. Plus, your body will continue to burn calories for up to an hour after the activity stops.

The most important thing to remember is that the more muscle groups you use in your daily exercise routine, the more fat you will burn. Once you have trained your body to be an efficient fat-burner, your body will continue to increase its muscle density. Since muscle cells burn calories faster than fat cells, your body will require more food. Believe it or not, this means you get to eat more food!

Remember, simple daily aerobic exercise and a nutritious diet are the keys to maintaining a healthy, fat-burning body.
